Showerthought: A regular at my chair in Charlotte said my blowouts looked 'too perfect' and stiff, which made me switch to a diffuser on medium heat for the last five minutes.

Has anyone else found that clients sometimes want a more lived-in, natural finish over that salon-fresh look?

Salon-fresh" is what a lot of people actually come in for, though.

Nah, that's such a surface level take. People say they want "salon-fresh" but what they really want is hair that looks good for more than one day. That expensive blowout falls apart after one shower. They're paying for the skill to get a cut that air dries nicely or a color that grows out gracefully. The real value is in the work that lasts, not the fancy feeling walking out the door.

My buddy's client asked for "second day hair" right from the start.
