Took me 4 hours to figure out a $5 brush cleaning mat

I grabbed this new silicone brush cleaning mat from the supply store in Austin thinking it'd save me time. Spent like 4 hours scrubbing brushes by hand before realizing the mat actually works way better with warm water and dish soap instead of the fancy brush cleaner I was using. Has anyone else had a tool that seemed useless until you found the right trick for it?

Man, that reminds me of when I got a fancy paint sprayer for doing my fence. Spent a whole weekend fighting with it, paint everywhere, clogged tips. Turned out the trick was thinning the paint way more than the instructions said. Now it works like a champ for big jobs. Sometimes the fancy stuff is just a pain until you figure out the simple hack that makes it work.

Four hours scrubbing by hand is insane, I would have ragequit after twenty minutes. The fact dish soap unlocked the whole thing for you is just hilarious.
