Tried that new bonding glue on a set of extensions and my hair turned into a sponge
I got a sample of some professional bond glue from a supplier in Dallas and figured I'd test it on a mannequin head first. Big mistake because the glue soaked into the hair fibers and made them all stiff and crinkly like a wet paper towel. After three tries with different drying times it still looked like a tangled mess of straw. Has anyone found a bonding glue that doesn't ruin the hair texture?

Man, that sucks. My friend Lola tried that same kinda glue on a cheap set from the beauty supply and it literally melted the fibers together. She spent two hours trying to pick it apart with a comb and her fingers and it just turned into this gummy, sticky mess. She ended up just throwing the whole thing in the trash and swore off glue forever. Lucky she tested it on a cheap head first.

My friend Mia tried that same glue on a cheap wig cap and it turned the lace into a sticky, hard plastic sheet, lmao. She was so mad she just cut her losses and tossed it.

I hear you on the "gummy sticky mess" part because I've been through that too. But honestly, I think it's more about the technique than the glue itself. I've used that same professional bond glue from Dallas on cheap mannequin heads and it turned out fine when I applied it super thin and let it dry for a solid 10 minutes before pressing the wefts down. The issue with hair turning into a sponge usually comes from using too much glue or not letting it tack up enough before bonding. The worst mess I ever made was when I got impatient and slapped it on thick, which turned the hair into a stiff crunchy nightmare. So maybe try a lighter coat and give it more drying time before you swear off glue completely.
