Appreciation post: the barista at my coworking spot in Cincinnati called me a regular and it woke me up
I've been going to the same spot in Cincinnati 4 days a week since January and mostly kept my head down with earbuds in. Last Wednesday the barista slid my coffee across the counter and told me I was her favorite regular because I always stack my cup and wipe the table. That sounds small but I've been working alone for 3 years and nobody has called me anything in that whole time. I counted it up and I've spent about 340 hours in that room without learning a single person's name. So I finally went to the Thursday lunch meetup there and traded numbers with two other freelance writers. If you have been treating your spot like a library, how did you get past the awkward first chat?
