Got a weird vibe at a coworking space in Denver last week

I tried out a new coworking spot near Union Station and half the people there were loud on calls all day, like they treat it as their personal office. The owner said it was just a busy week but I paid $35 for a day pass and got almost nothing done. Has anyone else had trouble finding a quiet spot in a big shared space?

Yeah the "busy week" excuse is such a cop out. I had the exact same thing happen at a space in Austin last month, paid $40 for a day pass and it was basically a call center. People on speakerphone, someone doing a whole podcast interview at full volume right next to me. The owner just shrugged and said it was a normal Tuesday. I feel like coworking spaces just let anyone in now and don't enforce any basic quiet rules. It's super frustrating when you pay that much and can't even focus.

I found a library with private study rooms for $10 a month.

Oh come on, I have to disagree with you guys here honestly. I mean, coworking spaces are literally designed for people to work and that includes taking calls sometimes, right? Like the whole point of a shared space is that it's not a library, you know? If you want dead silence you can just stay home or go to a proper quiet floor in a WeWork or something. I've been to a bunch of these spots in Denver and yeah it can get loud but that's kind of the tradeoff for the networking and energy you get. The owner probably wasn't lying, sometimes it really is just a busy week or a random group of people who don't realize they're being loud. And honestly for $35 a day you're getting a desk, internet, coffee, and a vibe - if you need total focus maybe spring for a private office or a dedicated quiet zone instead of blaming everyone else.

$35 for a call center with free coffee, sounds like a steal honestly. 🙄 Next time I'll bring a noise cancelling headset and a white noise machine just in case the "vibe" gets too loud for me.
