Hot desk at the front or quiet corner in the back: which one actually gets you clients?
I moved into a coworking spot in Austin 5 months ago and had to pick between a hot desk by the front door for $220 a month or a dedicated desk in the back corner for $340. I went with the front because I figured being visible would lead to more talks with people, and in 3 weeks I landed 2 small gigs just from saying hi at the coffee machine. But the noise is rough, I get maybe 2 solid hours of focus before lunch, and I've started coming in at 7am just to get quiet time. The back corner folks seem to know each other way better though, they do lunch every Friday and trade a lot of referrals. So which is it: pay less for the chaos up front, or pay more for a quiet spot with a tighter crew? Anyone been in both and can tell me if the back corner is worth the extra $120?
