I read that a coworking space in Austin charges $50 for a single day pass, which seems high to me.
I found that price on their website while looking for a spot to work during a trip next month, so what's the going rate for a day pass in your city, and is it usually worth it?

The WeWork on 5th Street here charges 35 bucks for a day. That's still too much for what you get. The free coffee is terrible, the wifi cuts out, and it's just a loud open room with people on calls. I'd rather pay for three fancy coffees at a quiet cafe and keep the extra twenty. The math only works if you actually need their printers or a conference room, which most people don't.

Seems like a lot just to sit somewhere. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather find a library or something.

That price is totally normal now, honestly. Feels like everything is a subscription or a day pass these days. Coffee shops want you to buy something every hour if you camp out. So fifty bucks for a desk, wifi, and coffee all day? They've done the math. It's the cost of a quiet spot where no one will bother you. Sometimes that's worth it when you really need to focus.

Totally normal" is where I get stuck. Maybe for a fancy spot, but jordan511 has a point about libraries. Paying that much just to sit feels like we're being trained to accept it.
