Just found out my city has a free freelancer meetup every first Thursday

Saw it on the bulletin board at the library downtown. It's at the main branch community room at 6 PM. Anyone been to one of these before?

My old town had a writers' group like that. It was mostly just people complaining about their laptops.

Totally get what you mean, @ruby_bell47. Making people bring pens is a solid filter. It weeds out the folks who just want to whine about tech instead of actually putting words on a page. My cousin joined a group where they had to write by hand for the first half hour, no exceptions. Said it completely changed the vibe and they got way more done. Suddenly it was about the work, not whose battery died or whose software crashed. That kind of simple rule forces a focus that most groups really need.
