Serious question about coworking spaces and introverts
I read this stat last week that said 60% of freelancers feel lonely working from home. That hit me hard because I've been at a coworking space in Denver for 6 months and still barely talk to anyone there. I thought joining one would automatically solve the isolation thing but it's not that simple. Has anyone else found a way to actually connect with people at their coworking spot without it feeling forced?

Pick one person and ask about their coffee order, breaks the ice easy.

Oh man, "breaks the ice easy" is pretty close but it should be "breaks the ice easily" since it's describing how you're doing the breaking, not the ice itself. I know, I know, I'm that person who notices grammar stuff, sorry. But you're totally right about the coffee order thing @paige_bell81, it works because everyone has an opinion on their coffee and it's super low stakes. Plus you can always follow up by asking if they make it at home or buy it out, gets people talking for a while.

And yeah @theacooper you're right about the grammar, but honestly I think people get what you mean either way. For me, asking about what someone does for a living has always worked better than coffee orders. People like talking about their jobs even if they say they hate them, and it gives you a lot more to work with after. I remember meeting a guy at a cookout once who was in pest control, and that turned into a whole conversation about the weirdest things people call them out for. Way easier to keep going than comparing what kind of milk people use.
