Struggled between a library desk and a paid coworking space for 2 months

I tried working out of the public library downtown to save money, but after getting shushed on three calls and dealing with a guy watching YouTube at max volume, I broke down and got a monthly desk at a spot called The Workshop. Has anyone else found that the free options just can't work when you actually need to talk to people?

Man, that shushing alone would've made me crack in a week. It's rough when free just doesn't cut it for real work.

Actually caught a podcast about this the other day, talked about how free tools are basically designed to get you hooked but then they start throwing obstacles in your way like daily usage caps or locked features. That constant shushing feeling is intentional apparently, it's like their way of nudging you toward paying without saying it outright. The host compared it to those old shareware games that would slow down after a trial period, same idea just slicker now. It's wild how they make you feel like you're missing out for not paying, even when you're already doing the work for them for free. Really makes you think twice about how much time you sink into something that's supposed to be free.

The library and free wifi spots are all part of that same system where you're basically being herded toward a subscription. It's like how every app now has a free version that's just barely usable enough to frustrate you into paying.
