The library downtown has a free coworking room I just found

I've been bouncing between paid spots in Portland for like 6 months, but last Tuesday I needed somewhere quiet on short notice and the central library has this basement room with 12 desks, power strips, and decent wifi. It was completely empty at 2pm, and it's free, just need a library card. Has anyone else checked out their local library for work space, or is this just a Portland thing?

Wait, so the library's been hiding a free office with power strips this whole time while I've been dropping $40 a month on a desk I barely use? Sounds about right for me, I probably walked past that basement door ten times and assumed it was where they keep the tax forms. Guess I owe the downtown branch an apology for all the times I judged their mystery stairs.
