Tried to find a local freelancer meetup in my neighborhood and spent 3 hours hopping between four different coffee shops that didn't actually host anything

After the third barista gave me a blank stare and the fourth shop had a sign saying their coworking night got cancelled six months ago, I just gave up and went home to work alone again has anyone actually found a legit group that meets consistently?

Honestly, I've had way better luck with the "fake it til you make it" approach. I found a coffee shop that had a big table in the back, showed up at the same time every week, and after a few months a few people just started showing up too. You can't really wait for someone else to organize it sometimes.

So did you just sit there for months with a laptop and nobody say anything? I'm curious how you handled those first few weeks when it was just you and an empty table. Because that's the part I'd probably give up on.
