Update: My local coworking spot in Phoenix went from dead quiet to packed in 6 months

They started hosting free 'Freelancer Friday' coffee meetups every week, and now the whole place is buzzing with people actually talking and sharing leads. Before that, it was just a room full of people with headphones on, not saying a word. What's one thing that made your own coworking space feel like a real community?

Oh totally! I read about a spot that did a weekly "skill swap" hour and it really broke the ice.

But what if you're bad at everything? I mean, what do you bring to a skill swap then?

Free coffee meetups actually worked? That's wild.

Guess it depends on what you call a skill. My swap would be showing people how to overthink simple tasks, which is what @abbyr54 probably meant by breaking the ice. I'd walk in, offer to nervously reorganize someone's pencil cup, and call it a win. The free coffee is just payment for dealing with my useless talent. Honestly, if someone can teach me to be less bad at one thing, that's a good trade.
