A rigger in Tacoma told me my hand signals were 'too fast' and it stuck with me.

He pulled me aside after a lift and said, 'Kid, you're moving your arms like a traffic cop on coffee. Slow it down, make every signal a full sentence.' I was rushing because the site was loud, but he was right. Now I count to two in my head between each clear motion, and the crew hasn't missed one since. Anyone else get a piece of advice that felt like criticism but actually fixed a bad habit?

Yeah, that's solid advice honestly.

Oh man, I feel that. I got told my directions were like a bad auctioneer once. Turns out slow and clear beats fast and confusing every time.

Right, my brain's auctioneer is on permanent vacation. Good point, @blair990.
