Found out my boom cable is older than I am, mind blown
Was going through the maintenance log on our 1998 Liebherr last month and noticed the original hoist cable was still listed as in service, that thing has outlasted two owners and my whole career since 2009. Checked the tags and sure enough, it's a 1995 German-made line, never been swapped. Has anyone else run into old original parts that just refuse to quit, or is our shop just lucky?

Shaking my head at that cable being older than most of your crew. My shop had a 30 year old hydraulic hose on a crane that finally gave up, we framed it like a trophy. That cable probably has more stories than the foreman does, and better ones too. I'd be tempted to just leave it in and name it something, maybe "Ol' Reliable" or "The Senior.
