Had a near miss on a job site in Detroit last Tuesday that shook me up
I was setting up for a 60 ton pick on a tight residential street when a gust of wind caught the load just as I was lifting. The load swung about 3 feet before I could correct it, barely missing a parked car. Has anyone else had a close call like this where something small went wrong real fast?

That wind thing is no joke, man. I had a similar close call a few years back on a rooftop HVAC swap where a sudden gust pushed a 4 ton unit right off the dolly while we were walking it into position. It tilted hard and we barely got it back level before it dropped right through a skylight below. It really drives home how fast a light breeze can turn into a major problem when you're working with heavy loads. Maybe it's just the nature of the job, but those split-second saves stick with you way longer than the routine lifts.

Read a safety bulletin last month that said wind is the number one hidden killer in rooftop work. Even 15 mph gusts can shift a load enough to catch you off guard. That skylight story is brutal, did you guys change how you rig loads since then?
