I used to think a 10-year crane cert was fine, but a close call last month changed my mind.

We were lifting a 12-ton HVAC unit onto a roof in Dallas, and my old rigger, who had his 10-year card, missed a frayed sling. I caught it during my pre-op check. The company switched to requiring 5-year recertification and hands-on tests after that. Now I see how skills can get rusty if you don't practice them often. What's your shop's policy on recertification timelines?

Same here, I thought the ten-year cycle was fine until I saw a rigger forget basic hand signals. We do three-year recerts with a practical test now.

Saw a study showing skills fade way faster than ten years.

Heard CPR skills can get rusty in just six months.
