My partner says fitness tests for crane operators are pointless, I disagree.
Good shape means safer lifts, but experience is key. Who's right?

Yeah nah, your partner's dead wrong. Buddy of mine ran a site where a guy failed the grip test, dropped a load two weeks later. Experience doesn't mean jack if your body can't keep up.

But what if the grip test itself is flawed? Maybe that guy had a bad day or the tool was off. Could be he knew his own limits better than a one-time test and got unlucky. Sometimes experience tells you how to work around a weak spot safely.
