PSA: The $350 crane camera system I almost sent back

I thought it was just a fancy gadget, but after a tricky lift in a tight city spot last month, it saved me from a blind spot that could have been bad. I was moving a big AC unit onto a roof with walls on three sides, and the camera showed me a pipe I couldn't see from the cab. It cost about $350 for a basic wireless kit. I had it for three weeks before that job and was ready to box it up, calling it a waste. Now I won't do a tight job without it. What other gear did you guys buy that you ended up loving?

Totally get that feeling of almost returning something. Bought a cheap laser level for some basic framing, thought it was junk for weeks. Then had to hang a long shelf solo and that little red line saved me so much time and frustration.

Exactly, @zarat37. It's funny how the right job makes a tool click. What kind of framing were you doing that made it seem useless at first?

Same thing happened with my stud finder. Thought it was broken until I tried it on a wall without insulation. Turns out it just hates modern construction.
