Unpopular opinion: I stopped cussing out the wind meter and started trusting the load chart instead
I used to wave off the anemometer readings on a 180 ton Liebherr because I figured 2 or 3 mph over the limit wasn't going to bring anything down. Then a guy out of Corpus Christi showed me the manufacturer's derate table for boom length past 200 feet and how fast the capacity falls off above 20 mph. Now I check the load chart before I ever blame the wind, so what do you all do on a long boom when the gusts are right at the edge?
