Dropped $60 on a cheap spiral notebook and a pack of index cards, and it fixed my prompt writing
I used to keep all my story ideas in my phone notes and they just piled up and died in there. Six weeks ago I bought a 5 dollar spiral notebook and a 3 dollar pack of index cards and started writing one prompt per card, just a line or two, then tossing the card in a shoebox. Something about the cards being small makes me finish the thought instead of rambling, and now the box has around 90 prompts in it and I pull a random one every morning to write against. The phone notes never got used once in two years. Does anyone else work better on paper, or am I just old?

Having a physical box with a cap on it probably matters more than the cards themselves. Your phone notes had no limit, so they just kept growing into this vague blob you couldn't face. A shoebox tells you when it's full. It gives the whole thing a shape and an end point, which is weirdly motivating.
