I finally stopped outlining and wrote a novel in 3 weeks, but now I'm second guessing
Used to be a hardcore planner, spent 2 months on a 40 page outline for a mystery set in Portland. Then I hit chapter 5 and felt dead, so I scrapped it and just wrote by the seat of my pants. Finished 78,000 words in 21 days, which felt amazing at first. But the middle is a mess with two subplots that go nowhere, and my beta readers said the twist makes no sense. So now I'm wondering, does anyone else find that pantsing gives you momentum but leaves you with reconstruction work later? Or should I go back to outlining for the next draft and lose that raw energy I had?
