Our writing group's prompts are getting too predictable

I see that the prompts we use often lead to similar stories. This makes it hard for us to improve and sessions get boring. What do you do to keep prompts fun and new?

Last week's prompt was 'a mysterious key,' and we got three detective stories. Is that really a crisis? If @gibson.troy's brain counts as a weird object, let's use that next time.

In 2023, our group began combining random prompts from a jar. We'd pick two at a time and mash them into one story, which really shook things up. The results were hilarious and surprisingly creative, lmao.

Totally get where you're coming from (stale prompts can really drain the fun out of writing). Using different sources, like old photos or weird objects, can help bring new ideas. It's a simple fix that can make your sessions way more fun again.
