Showerthought: That 'use a random object' prompt left me with three pages of nonsense.

Honestly, I grabbed a stapler from my desk and tried to build a story around it. Tbh, after an hour, I had a rambling mess about a sentient office supply. Ngl, it felt like a total waste of time and killed my motivation for a week. Now I think some prompts are just bad luck if they don't connect with you.

That stapler story sounds like actual trash though.

What if that rambling mess was actually a creative breakthrough in disguise? Forcing a story from a random object can shake up your usual thinking and lead to fresh ideas. Calling it bad luck might just be avoiding the hard work of digging for gold in the weird stuff.

My digging usually just hits more rocks.

Ever hear about my friend's weird story from a broken toaster? It started as nonsense but turned into this cool bit about memory. Sometimes the messy start is just the path to something good.
