The writing prompt that tanked my whole group chat
I run a small writing circle with three friends, and last Tuesday I posted a prompt about a character who wakes up with no memory. Simple enough, right? But I loaded it up with too many rules, like no flashbacks and must be under 500 words, and everyone just froze. One friend replied with 'can we just write something fun for once' and the other two ghosted for two days. I ended up scrapping the whole thing and offering three loose prompts, just a setting and a feeling, and that got us rolling again. Has anyone else had a prompt fail so hard the group almost quit?
