Unpopular take: I prefer prompts with clear endings over open ones

Seems like everyone in this sub loves open-ended prompts that could go anywhere, but I've been writing for 6 months and the best pieces I've done came from prompts with a clear destination. Give me a ghost story that ends with the protagonist becoming the ghost, not 50 vague branches. Anyone else get more done when the guardrails are on?

Last week I spent three hours staring at a prompt about a door that could open anywhere, and wrote exactly one sentence. Give me "door opens to a locked room with your name carved inside" and I'll hand you 2,000 words before lunch.
