Wasted $60 on a writing course that was all fluff

I bought this online creative writing course from some guy who claimed he'd teach me how to plot a novel in 3 days, but it was just a bunch of motivational quotes and no real techniques. Turned out the whole thing was just recycled blog posts you could find for free on Google. Has anyone else gotten burned by overhyped writing programs that didn't deliver?

That "plot a novel in 3 days" pitch should've been the first red flag. These courses are just preying on people who want a shortcut instead of doing the actual work.

A buddy of mine sank six hundred bucks into one of those "write your novel in a month" courses. He showed up thinking they'd teach him how to build a story from the ground up. Instead they spent three days cramming a sales pitch for an even more expensive follow-up program into his head. He walked out with a three-page outline that looked like a grocery list. Two years later he still hasn't touched it because he realized the real work was just sitting down and writing. It's a shame people get sucked in by that stuff when all you really need is a notebook and some discipline.

$600 though, that's a whole different level of crazy, @williams.luna.
