Dispute took 6 months to fix one tiny error on my Equifax report
I found a accounts receivable account from an old Comcast bill in Denver that was paid off in 2019, but it showed a $127 balance still due. Pulled my reports in February and it took until August, over 180 days and three certified letters, to get Equifax to actually remove it. Has anyone else had to wait that long for a simple paid-in-full dispute to go through?

Three certified letters and six months, thats rough. I once spent four months fighting TransUnion over a $45 library fine that I paid in 2012, and they kept saying it was valid because my name had a typo on the original form. I actually started calling them every Tuesday morning just to bother them, and eventually some rep just deleted it to get me off the phone. Its funny how they can verify a $127 balance from Denver in like three clicks, but proving you paid it takes half a year and a blood sacrifice. Honestly, if my credit score wasnt the only thing keeping me from renting a decent apartment, I would have given up around month three.

Man oh man, the blood sacrifice line is too real. I swear the credit bureaus have some kind of secret ritual you have to complete before they even look at your paperwork.

So you're saying the system should just take your word for it? That'd be a disaster.
