My secured card was a scam, smaller local bank credit union did better
Everyone on here pushes the big name secured cards to build credit. I threw $300 at one last March and waited 8 months. My score barely moved 12 points because they reported my high balance wrong twice. I closed it and walked into a credit union in Akron. They gave me a secured loan for $500, reported it as installment credit, and my score jumped 40 points in 2 months. No fees, no games, just a rep who actually explained how reporting cycles work. Has anyone else ditched the national cards for a local credit union and seen faster results?
