Got my email spoofed at a Charlotte gas station and now I check sender headers
Stopped for gas off I-85 last Tuesday, paid at the pump with a card. Two days later a buddy hits me up asking why I sent him a weird link about crypto. I didn't send anything. Someone cloned my display name and sent phishing mail to my whole contact list from a lookalike domain. Took me an hour to call everyone and warn them. Now I open the raw source on any email that feels off, check the actual return path instead of just the name. Has anyone else had their display name spoofed like that? How do you explain it to less techy people without sounding paranoid?
