Hot take: The coffee shop downtown has a public Wi-Fi sign with no security warning at all.

I was at Brew & Bean on Main Street yesterday and their login page just says 'Free Guest Wi-Fi', nothing about using a VPN or avoiding sensitive info. It made me think about how many places still don't give basic advice. What's the simplest thing you tell someone before they connect to a public network?

That "Free Guest Wi-Fi" sign reminds me of the time my friend accidentally joined a fake hotspot called "Starbucks WiFi" with two F's!

Bet he got a free download of every virus known to man... classic move. I always check for the extra "F" or a weird spelling now. Saw one last week called "AirportW1F1-Free" and just laughed. People get way too creative with these traps.

Right? @kevint47 has the right idea. Those fake names are getting wild. It's like a trap for anyone in a hurry.

And honestly I'm probably the BIGGEST sucker for this stuff. I clicked on "McDonalds_Free_WiFi_Real" once at a rest stop and waited five minutes for a login page that never loaded before I realized what I'd done.
