Password manager vs. paper notebook, I switched after a scare

I used to keep all my passwords in a little notebook by my desk, thought it was fine. Then my apartment in Chicago got broken into last month, and they took my laptop bag with the notebook inside. I panicked and switched to a password manager that night, spent 2 hours updating every account. It felt weird trusting an app at first, but now I actually sleep better knowing my bank and email have separate strong passwords. Has anyone else made the jump after a break-in or a close call, and did you find a setup that works for you?

Oh man, that's terrifying! My buddy in Denver had the SAME thing happen except his car got busted into and they took his gym bag with his whole life in it, passwords written on a crumpled piece of paper in the side pocket. He spent a whole weekend changing everything and now he uses a password manager with a weird passphrase that only he knows, plus he keeps a backup of the emergency codes in a fireproof safe at his mom's house. He says the worst part wasn't even the break-in, it was feeling so dumb for making it easy for them.
