Password managers are overrated if you reuse one strong passphrase

I keep seeing people push password managers like they fix everything, but after my cousin got hit last month because his master password was the same one he used for his gym app, I think we should be talking about unique passphrases first before adding another app to the mix.

Same thing happened to my neighbor with his bank PIN. Used the same four digits for his phone unlock, garage code, and library card. People treat passwords like house keys, one key for every door. The real issue is nobody wants to remember thirty different keys, so they pick the easiest one and copy it everywhere.
