Warning: My IT guy said skip the password manager, and I almost listened
Back in March my coworker Dave at the Tacoma office said password managers were a scam and that a notebook in my desk drawer was safer. I believed him for about two weeks until our building had a break-in and someone walked off with three laptops and my drawer notebook. Whoever took it had my email, my bank login, and my work VPN all written on page one in blue pen. I switched to a manager with a long passphrase that same week and never looked back. So who is right here, is a paper notebook really that bad if you keep it on you at all times?
My old roommate kept his passwords in a wallet sized address book he carried everywhere, and it worked fine until he left it in an Uber on New Year's Eve. The real problem with paper is you only have to lose it once, and you can't remote wipe a notebook or change every password in ten minutes. If you're going to do paper anyway, at least use a locked safe at home instead of a desk drawer at work.
