Why does nobody talk about checking email sender addresses more?
I got an email last week that looked totally real from my streaming service! It said my payment failed and to click a link to fix it. I was about to do it because I didn't want my account locked. But something felt off, so I looked closely at the sender email. It was 'support@stream-service-update.net' which is not their real address at all! I went to the actual website and logged in, and everything was fine there. Now I make it a habit to always check the full email address before clicking anything. This tiny check takes seconds and can stop you from giving your info to scammers. Trust me, it's worth doing every time!

But what if checking the sender address is just a waste of time for most people? We get so many emails every day that stopping to look at each one feels like a chore. Scammers are smart and can make fake addresses look real, so you might still click on something bad by mistake. Email services have gotten really good at filtering out phishing attempts before they even reach your inbox. Spending time on this tiny check might make you feel safe, but it's not a sure thing. I just let my email provider handle it and focus on more important stuff.

Focus on more important stuff" like what exactly?

You're calling it a tiny check, but that's the whole point of the scam. They want you to feel rushed so you don't look. And like @scott.alex is getting at, what "more important stuff" is worth the risk of your bank account getting cleaned out? Filters miss things all the time, especially the newer tricks. Letting a machine do all the thinking for you is how people end up in real trouble.

Trusting filters completely... you're joking, right?
