Had to pick between two edits last night - speed or quality

So my client moved a deadline up by 3 days and I had to choose between turning in a fast but messy video edit or a clean one that takes twice as long. I went with the fast one because I figured they'd rather have something on time than wait. Got it in 4 hours later and they actually said 'this is fine for now, we can polish later.' It worked out but I still feel weird about it. Anyone else pick the wrong option when pushed?

Did they actually push back at all before folding or just immediately cave?

Feel for you man. I had a client last month ask for a total redesign like three days before launch and I almost had a heart attack. But I just sent them a quick message saying hey this is what we agreed on, here's the timeline if we switch it up. They actually backed down and said the original was fine. Clients can be unpredictable but most of them are reasonable if you just level with them straight up.
