Just realized I miss the old panic, not the new one

I actually preferred it when clients would drop a deadline change right before lunch on a Friday (back in 2019, that happened 4 times in one summer). Now they use Slack to casually slide it in at 10pm and expect a reply by morning, and it feels way more invasive somehow. Has anyone else noticed the before-and-after difference in how clients communicate rush changes?

Actually I gotta push back on this a little bit. The 2019 way was worse for me because at least with a Slack message at 10pm I can ignore it until morning without feeling like a jerk. Getting hit with a last minute Friday lunch change meant I had to scramble and cancel plans in real time, which felt way more stressful. Plus the old way meant they were watching me say no or stress out, whereas now I can just type a calm reply whenever I want. The Slack thing feels invasive only if you let it be, but you can also just turn off notifications. I'll take a late night message I can answer on my terms over a face to face deadline drop any day.

Four times in one summer is wild, I had a boss who would schedule Friday 4pm "quick syncs" that always turned into hour long fire drills. It's like everyone collectively decided that personal time is just a suggestion now.
