My favorite coffee shop turned into a coworking space overnight

I walked into the Daily Grind on Elm Street last Tuesday and half the tables were taken over by freelancers with laptops and noise-canceling headphones. I used to go there to chill and read a book, but now it feels like an extension of my home office. Does anyone else miss when cafes were just for hanging out, not for deadline crunching?

Are those laptop people even buying coffee?

Agree completely, I see the same thing at my local shop every single day. They'll nurse a single drip coffee for three hours while their laptop battery dies (and then ask to borrow a charger, of course). Meanwhile, the place is packed with actual paying customers who can't find a seat.
