Pro tip: I read the fine print on a rush fee clause and it cut my panic in half

Last week I had a client move a logo project up by 4 days with zero warning. I was about to lose it, but then I actually read the contract I sent them 6 months ago. Turns out I buried a line in there about a 25% rush fee if they change the deadline within 72 hours. I found it by scrolling to page 3 of the PDF where I usually just skim it. I charged them an extra $300 and they paid it without a fight. Now I'm wondering how many other freelancers have clauses in their contracts they forgot about. Has anyone else found a hidden gem in their own boilerplate that saved them?

Buried clauses paying off is the best kind of surprise.

Oh man, @taylor_wells, I've been the one accidentally hiding a "buried clause" in my own life! I once signed up for a "free" gym trial and didn't notice the tiny print that charged me for a whole year. So yeah, surprises are fun until they hit your bank account.
