Rant: One simple font swap ate my whole Tuesday in Cleveland

Client sent the new brand guide at 9 AM and wanted the full deck by 5. I thought it was just swapping fonts, but their new font renders strangely on Windows vs Mac. I spent 4 hours fixing line breaks and spacing that looked fine on my screen but broke on theirs. Then they asked for a different font anyway after I finished. Has anyone else lost a whole day to a client's 'simple' style change that ended up being a huge mess?

That logo story reminds me of something, though I gotta gently push back on one part. Flipping a logo upside down isn't the same as updating it, that's a redesign, and it probably should have been caught way before 6:30 PM. But I get your point about hidden layers, those files are a nightmare. The real issue here is nobody reads the brand guide before sending it over. If the client had looked at their own PDF for five minutes, they'd have seen the font is meant for print, not on-screen decks. Your Tuesday sounds like it was wasted on a client who didn't do their homework, not on the actual work.

Honestly, "wanted the full deck by 5" hit me right in the gut. Reminds me of when a client said "just update the logo" but their old file had like 50 hidden layers of text boxes I never knew about. I finally got it done, sent it over, and they replied that the logo was actually supposed to be flipped upside down for the "creative direction." Nobody mentioned that till 6:30. Tbh I think some clients just enjoy watching us sweat a little.
