Rant: told a client 'no' for the first time after a 4am rewrite request
Last Tuesday at 4am, this client in Denver sends me a full rewrite request for a brochure I'd already finished twice. I used to just jump, but I had a root canal the next morning and zero patience. So I wrote back saying no to the new direction unless they paid for a third revision and made the deadline Monday instead of Friday. They actually agreed, and now I'm kicking myself for not drawing that line three years ago. Why do we wait until we're miserable to set basic rules? Has anyone else had a client suddenly respect you more when you finally push back?
