Showerthought: I used to promise 2-day turnarounds like an idiot, now I say 5 business days minimum

Three years ago when I started freelancing in Austin, I told everyone I could finish their logos in 48 hours. I thought I was being impressive. Realized after like 6 burnout episodes that clients just assume you’re free all the time if you say that. Now I pad everything by 3 days and somehow get called ‘reliable.’ When did yall figure out the sweet spot for not overpromising?

Promising fast turnarounds got me a ton of work and clients who actually paid rush fees so I'd say it worked out fine.

Still figuring it out, honestly - I add an extra week just to feel safe now.
