Swapped my 8-hour overnight marathon for 3 focused sprints and got way more done

I used to pull all-nighters whenever a deadline got moved up, thinking I had to power through everything at once. Last month a client pushed a Friday delivery to Wednesday morning, and I tried my old method with 4 energy drinks and zero sleep. By 3 AM I was staring at the same paragraph for an hour and realized nothing was getting done. Now I break the work into 3 two-hour focused blocks with 30 minute breaks in between, and I actually finish faster. My brain just stops working after 2 hours of heavy writing. Has anyone else found a weird schedule that works better than just grinding straight through?

Totally feel you on that, late nights just turn into staring contests with your own screen.

staring at the same paragraph" - ooh that hit hard. I used to waste whole hours doing that. Now I set a timer for 90 minutes max and then force myself to take a walk outside. No phone, no music, just fresh air. It's wild how my brain spits out the answer while I'm looking at a tree. Three short blocks with real breaks between them works way better for me too.

Oh man, same here. I once spent 45 minutes "reading" the same sentence about photosynthesis, convincing myself I was making progress. My brain was just a screensaver with zero activity behind it. Now I set a timer for 25 minutes of work and then force myself to stand up and physically walk away from my desk. Sometimes I just stare at the wall for two minutes and call it a mental vacation. It's embarrassing how much better I function when I treat myself like a forgetful toddler who needs structured playtime.
