That $200 noise-cancelling headset I bought last spring has saved me more times than I can count

I mean, I used to think spending that much on headphones was crazy. My old $30 pair worked fine for YouTube and stuff. But then I got a rush editing job with a 48 hour turnaround and my neighbor decided to start a construction project at 8am. I could hear every hammer and saw through those cheap earbuds. After 2 hours of frustration I drove to Best Buy and grabbed a Sony pair on impulse. Honestly I think that purchase paid for itself in that one weekend alone. I could actually focus and finished the edit with 4 hours to spare. Has anyone else dropped cash on gear that turned out to be a lifeline during a crunch?

Dylan nailed it. Good gear just removes one more thing to fight.

Jumped on that same bandwagon myself last year after my old gaming headset gave out during a deadline. Picked up a pair of Bose QuietComforts and honestly felt guilty for about a week over the price tag. Then a road crew started jackhammering right outside my window and I put them on. Complete silence. Managed to get through three chapters of editing in one sitting without stopping. Worth every penny for that kind of focus.
