That group project in Austin wrecked my whole approach to feedback

I was at a coworking space in Austin last spring and got roped into this group branding project. The client moved the deadline up by 10 days right after we'd all agreed on the final round. We had to basically work in shifts around the clock just to get it done. It made me realize how much time I waste waiting for perfect feedback instead of just sending rough drafts early. Has anyone else had a last minute rush that totally changed how you handle client approvals?

Wait, did that Austin project end up working out okay in the end? I feel like that last minute rush stuff always teaches you something though. I had a client once move a deadline up by a week and I was stuck sending these super polished drafts that took forever to get right. After that I started just sending messy first versions with notes like "here's the awful first pass" and it actually worked way better. Now I don't even bother making things look nice until the client's had a chance to tell me I'm going in the wrong direction.

Right?! That first pass trick saves so much sanity.

Wait, you mean sending polished drafts doesn't magically fix everything?
