Warning: color-coded task boards hide urgent work too well

I used a rainbow Trello board for 14 months and kept missing the true deadlines because everything looked equally important. Last Tuesday I switched to a single black-and-white list sorted by due time, and my 6 PM rush became a 2 PM finish. The real fix was adding a plain text countdown in the title, like 'ETA 3 HRS' so my eyes catch it without reading details. Has anyone else tried removing color from their panic workflow, or am I the only one who gets hypnotized by pastel labels?

Ugh, color made me blind too, plain text countdowns in titles are the only thing that saves me now.
