That $220 'premium' toothbrush app subscription taught me a lesson

I bought into the whole sonic brush with an app thing back in March. The brush itself was fine, but the app kept nagging me to track every single brushing session like it was some kind of dental fitness tracker. After 3 weeks I realized I was spending more time fighting the app than actually brushing. Then the subscription renewal hit at $220 for the year and I just let it lapse. Turns out you can get the exact same clean with a $40 store brand brush and a timer on your phone. Has anyone else paid extra for a smart feature that just ended up being a headache?
