The lidocaine vs articaine debate misses the real issue

Overheard a hygienist at a lunch spot last week saying articaine is for 'real procedures' and lidocaine is 'old news.' I get that it numbs faster, but I've had three dentists tell me lidocaine works just fine for 90% of their patients, and it's a fraction of the cost. Am I wrong for thinking most of us are paying extra for a name, not better care?

Read somewhere lidocaine's safety record is just as good, honestly.
