Can we talk about that time a fleet manager in Boise insisted we skip the regen cycle on a whole row of trucks?
Now I make them sign a waiver before I touch anything, because I'm not eating a $12,000 DPF replacement bill again.

What's the big deal about skipping one regen?

I mean, I get the appeal of thinking it's just one time, but I learned that lesson the hard way. I skipped a regen once because I was in a hurry and figured "what's the harm." Ended up having to replace a whole component a few weeks later because that one skip threw off the maintenance schedule and things got worse. Now I just set a reminder on my phone for the exact time and treat it like a non-negotiable, same as paying a bill.

It's that "just one" mindset that gets me. I see it with stuff like hitting snooze or skipping a quick clean up. It's never just one, it's the start of a habit where you make excuses for yourself. Before you know it, you've let a bunch of small things slide and you're playing catch up.

That waiver is the only thing that saved me. After the last mess, I made a hard rule to get everything in writing. Now they have to own the choice if they want to skip a service.
