Chose new injector cups over a borderline head job on a 6.0 here in Omaha, 3 weeks in and no regrets
Had to pick between spending 700 bucks on fresh cups versus a used head from the scrapyard, went with the cups and one of the old ones crumbled right out so I lucked out, anyone else gamble on the cheaper fix and have it actually hold up?

Hold on, those injector cups on a 6.0 are basically wear items, so if one was already crumbled, the other seven weren't far behind. That 700 bucks probably saved you from buying a used head that might've been warped or cracked anyway.

Did you end up replacing all eight cups while you were in there? That's exactly what I did after my first one went bad. I tried the cheap route first, just swapped the one cup and thought I was good. Three months later another one started leaking coolant into the oil. I ended up pulling the head again, doing all eight this time, and it cost me way more in gaskets and time than if I'd just done them all the first time. That $700 you mention sounds pretty fair when you factor in the labor of doing it twice.
